GIA to offer Graduate Diamonds Diploma Program in Dubai
GIA will offer its internationally recognisedeight-week Graduate Diamonds (GD) diploma programin Dubai beginning Oct 20. The course allows professionals and aspiring professionals an easy access to world-class gemmology education. The GD programme combines theory and hands-on practical learning to teach students the GIA-created 4Cs (Colour, Cut, Clarity and Carat weight) of diamond quality and how to grade diamonds in the D-Z colour range. Students will learn how to use gemmological instruments to grade and identify diamonds; how to detect synthetics, treatments, simulants and fracture-filled diamonds; and how to confidently speak the language of diamonds to suppliers, vendors and customers.
In addition to classroom lessons, GIA facilitates hands-on learning through regular market visits – such as manufacturing facilities and retail houses – to gain an understanding of day-to-day business. Students have a unique opportunity to experience the journey of a diamond from mine to market. GIA conducts regular courses in major trade centres throughout the Gulf region including Bahrain, Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. The Institute’s courses focus on diamonds, coloured stones, pearls, jewellery design, retail and more. GIA’s intake station in Dubai offers grading services for diamonds, coloured stones and pearls to consumers and members of the trade across the Middle East.
